Hospital Padrino

UI/UX Designer

Hospital Padrino is an initiative spearheaded by Hospital Valle del Lili, ranked third nationally in healthcare excellence. The strategy employs a collaborative framework that enables public hospitals in rural areas, often lacking specialized expertise, to connect with high-complexity, quality-certified private hospitals for advanced medical support. This collaboration extends to real-time consultations in critical, life-threatening situations.

Currently, the strategy faces several areas for improvement. Key among these are the limited availability of comprehensive educational resources for medical personnel and suboptimal integration of information and communication channels within the Hospital Padrino framework.

The Job and challenges

Our primary objective was to develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for Maria to present to the Valle del Lili executive board. This MVP aimed to demonstrate the potential of technology in significantly streamlining stakeholder interactions and enhancing support for rural community members. To achieve this goal, we conducted a thorough analysis to identify and address the organization's most pressing challenges.

How can the communication channels between Hospital Padrino and sponsored hospitals be strengthened?

What is best educational strategy for permanent and up-to-date access to academic information?

How to position the brand in government, academic and opinion groups with special emphasis on potential donors?

How can the collection of data be improved in order to know the behavior of hospitals in real time?

What is the best communication and education strategy for zones lack of internet connection?

How can document management be Improved?

Field Research

Our initial phase involved comprehensive field research across various small towns in the Valle del Cauca region, including Calima, Buenaventura, Mulalo, and Vijes. These communities shared a common challenge: a significant shortage of qualified medical specialists. Through direct observation of the organization's operations, we attended free masterclasses on critical healthcare topics such as high-risk deliveries, high-impact wound treatment, and infection risk management. This immersive experience provided crucial insights into the healthcare challenges faced by these rural communities and the organization's pivotal role in addressing these needs.

Defining the users

Our analysis identified two key stakeholders in this process: urban medical specialists and rural healthcare providers. The urban specialists offer critical virtual assistance and conduct masterclasses, while their rural counterparts benefit from this expertise in two ways. Firstly, they receive real-time guidance during urgent medical procedures or surgeries. Secondly, they participate in masterclasses to acquire new knowledge and enhance their skills.

Scooping the problem

Through our analysis, we identified two primary challenges: education, communication, and funding. To address these issues efficiently, we determined that developing a web application would be the most effective approach for creating a rapid Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This web-based solution was designed to tackle all three challenges simultaneously, incorporating integrations with third-party services to enhance functionality and user experience.
